Our Story

Founded in 1985, Neometro has established itself as Melbourne’s most long-standing design-focused and socially led development group. With a track record spanning 40 years, we’ve garnered a reputation for delivering enduring buildings of uncompromising quality. Many of our projects have received awards for their architecture and design. We’re heartened by these accolades and humbled by the value our peers place on our work.

Working under the guidance of Neometro directors Jeff Provan, James Tutton and Lochlan Sinclair, our award-winning team has three decades of experience in urban and residential development. James Tutton

Director

Passionate about the built environment, design and wellbeing, James has been a director of Neometro for twelve years, driving the commercial side of the business while supporting its strong design integrity. In 2012, a deep commitment to mental health led James to co-found not-for-profit organisation Smiling Mind. With more than 8 million downloads of its app, Smiling Mind is one of the world’s leading digital mental health platforms and Australia’s go-to organisation for preventative mental health resources tailored for young people. The platform is heavily integrated into Australian schools and aims to support systemic changes to how we approach mental health. James is also the creator of Moonlight Cinema. Established in 1996 while he was in his final year of university, the cinema remains an iconic fixture of Australian summer and a symbol of James’ entrepreneurial legacy. James holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Philosophy.
